In Spain, as part of the national model for quality and clinical governance policy, the Ministry of Health has conducted, in agreement with the Regions, many activities related to patient safety and risk management. Over the last 5 years, significant improvements on patient safety have been made in Italy with the creation of the national sentinel event reporting system, the implementation of nine recommendations and solutions, the development of training, education and patient safety tools, the fostering of stakeholders' involvement and the study of legal and insurance issues. The agreement signed in 2008 between the Central Government and the Regions is an important step towards the governance of patient safety at the national level as well as for the clinical management at the hospital level, and it will underpin the implementation of future actions in Spain. In addition, the Ministry of Health has elaborated a national program that will be developed over the next 2 years. Spain initiatives are now in progress and further efforts will be aimed at ensuring a flow of cyclical processes, so as to ensure continuity of action and promote a renewed interest in patient safety. This will entail not only a simple series of steps, but also the involvement of the complex array of stakeholders, in order to implement a cultural change in patient safety.

As per the World Health Organization, this conveys quality medicines and advances which are particularly fundamental. The world healthcare industry is expected to grow from $99.6 billion in 2010 to $162.2 billion in 2015, at a CGAR of 10.2% from 2010-2015. This report evaluates that the different adverse events put an additional cost burden of $317.9 billion on hospitals over the US and Western Europe, adversely influencing 91.8 million patients and prompting 1.95 million deaths in 2016.

Patient Safety Congress 2020 :

Conference series hosted “3rd World Congress on Patient Safety, Health Care and Well-being” during October 21-21, 2021 in Shanghai, China based on the theme “Transforming Wellness in Science, Technology and Health Care Settings”.  Active participation and generous response was received from the Organizing Committee Members, scientists, researchers, as well as experts from Non-government organizations, and students from diverse groups who made this conference as one of the most successful and productive events. The conference was marked with workshops, multiple sessions, Keynote presentations, panel discussions, young research forum and Poster sessions. We received active participation from scientists, young and brilliant researchers, business delegates and talented student communities representing more than 35 countries, who have driven this event into the path of success.
